Case studies provide opportunities for reflection and potential solutions for current challenges facing both individuals and organizations. These selected case studies represent past and current work with our clients. As future works emerges, additional case studies will be added.
What would doubling your sales do for your company?
Manufacturing
Challenges: Slow growth less than 10%, loss of market share, overseas competition
Solution: Executive Leadership one on one coaching including some strategic planning
Results: 2 years of 25% increase in sales; third year with 17%
A Midwest manufacturer of over 20 years continued to face competitive challenges from Pacific Rim countries and a declining market for its products. The President had already implemented just-in-time as well as investing in a second facility in Mexico. These proactive actions still were unsuccessful in increasing annual sales volume beyond the 5% to 8% annual range.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS was asked to help raise annual sales to at least 10%. Through executive one on one coaching focusing on executive leadership with the President, a goal of 17% was determined to be both attainable, but also a stretch. Additionally, a vision and values statement for the company was constructed and enacted. Finally, through improving interpersonal skills including communication and time management, the President had a consistent focus. Weekly meetings now began with an agenda and all discussion centered on agenda items only. Non-agenda items were added to the next week's agenda or scheduled for a private meeting.
These combined actions resulted in an annual sales increase of not 17%, but 25% in the first year. The second year sales again increased 25%. During the third year, sales increased 17%, but did not meet the projected goal due to economic conditions. However, growth still far exceeds the traditional 5% to 8% range.

Entrepreneur
Challenges: One of three small businesses not performing in a highly competitive market place.
Solution: Executive Leadership one on one coaching including some strategic planning and sales development.
Results: In 5 weeks, secured one sale that accounted for 6 months of sales during the same time the previous year.
An entrepreneur with three businesses desired to increase sales and profitability for one of those businesses focusing on promotional items. Due to commitments in the other two businesses and this specific business facing increased competitive pressure, the entrepreneur had hired an independent contractor to increase sales. However, sales still were lacking.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS was asked to help increase sales including profitability and to help the entrepreneur achieve greater balance in the executive's personal life. Through executive one on one coaching coupled with some strategic planning actions and sales training and development, the entrepreneur increased focus on securing sales and negotiating better financial arrangements with the vendors.
These actions resulted in a significant sale within 5 weeks that accounted for 6 months of sales during the same time the previous year. Profitability also doubled as the entrepreneur decided to take proactive actions specific to financial arrangements with the vendor.
What could you do if you doubled your income in just 12 months?
Professional Services
Challenges: Not meeting both personal and professional goals.
Solution: One on one coaching focusing on self-leadership, sales development and strategic business planning.
Results: In first 3 months with a broken ankle and being housebound, secured more sales than in the previous year. At the end of 6 months exceed the previous 9 months and within nine months doubled income.
A professional service individual with a 15-year practice within the financial industry had just completed a less than desirable year. Previously, this financial advisor had achieved Million Dollar Roundtable; however the current year's minimum for keeping the contract with the financial institution had been secured with less than 2 hours to go before the contract expired.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS was contacted after presenting a strategic planning workshop on small business help to financial consultants. This financial advisor attended and discovered that a 3-hour workshop did not present enough time nor covered enough of the issues that were currently being faced. Using one on one executive coaching through a leadership curriculum, the financial consultant so began to see progress. Even though the advisor broke an ankle on the day the coaching was to begin, weekly telephone calls supported the consultant as daily work continued.
Within 6 months, the consultant had surpassed the previous year's revenues and had double income by the end of the year. This client continues to receive coaching on a regular basis and has repositioned both client and market focus to ensure securing long term results.
